Meet our Co - Presidents
Karina & Sarene

My Name is Karina I joined Ted Rogers ACE (formerly DECA) in my first year of university as a delegate. Before joining, I was extremely shy — I only spoke when spoken to, often doubted my ideas, and would rush off campus just to avoid being noticed. TRACE changed that. This group removed the biggest barrier many students face in university: fear. I was welcomed with open arms, and instead of being thrown straight into the deep end, my skills were nurtured through incredible delegate development training.

Along the way, I not only gained confidence but also found some of my closest friends through those late night prep sessions and lost our voices cheering each other on. Walking into a case competition feels like a simulation of the boardroom. These experiences taught me how to think on my feet, communicate with clarity, and back up my ideas with trust. As a student leader, it's groups like TRACE that help me visualize the future I want for myself, almost as if the roleplaying of a professional is an affirmation of what I could achieve post-university.

I stay with TRACE not just for what it gives me, but for what I can give back — creating the same safe space for others to conquer their fears and realize their potential. This year, I’m incredibly honored to serve as Co-President. My mantra is audacity: taking bold risks, expanding our reach, and pushing my team to challenge the status quo. I’m passionate about finding innovative ways to bridge the gap between the industries we immerse our cases in and our delegates, ensuring they gain not just theoretical knowledge but real-world insights they can carry into their careers. My goal is to lead with empathy, work alongside my team, and set a lasting precedent for excellence.

Outside of TRACE, you’ll usually find me snuggling with my dog Toby, discovering new coffee shops, or fan-girling over my favorite books and films (I’m a huge Wicked girl!).

My name is Sarene, and I am beyond thrilled to be one of the Co-Presidents of Ted Rogers ACE for the 2025/26 year. I first joined TRACE because I was looking for a community that would challenge me both intellectually and socially. TRACE has turned out to be exactly that—and so much more.

A huge shoutout to Harkirat Grewal, who, at the time, was VP of Marketing, for encouraging me to join such a wonderful team. I started my TRACE journey as VP of Corporate Relations, where I had the opportunity to connect with amazing sponsors and build lasting relationships. This role helped me grow tremendously—not only as a student but also as a case competitor, which inspired me to take on more leadership. By the end of my term, I knew I wanted to contribute on a larger scale, which led me to run for Co-President of our TMU chapter.

As Co-President, my mission for TRACE this year is to cultivate a team dynamic where everyone feels like they’re not just part of a club, but part of a family. I want to ensure that, as leaders, we continue to push ourselves to deliver exceptional events, compete successfully at the National level, and, most importantly, support each other’s growth and development. During my time as VP of Corporate Relations, I noticed that some TRACE members lacked motivation and felt disconnected from the team. This sparked my desire to do more and create a more inclusive, empowering environment where everyone feels valued.

I’m incredibly excited for what lies ahead and feel so fortunate to be part of this talented team. I can’t wait to see all the great things we’ll accomplish together this year!

A fun fact about me: I’m a musician and can play the guitar behind my head—my secret talent!

Hey! My name is Mark Clavio in my final year of Accounting and Finance, and I am the Executive Vice President for TRACE this year! As EVP, I support the team operations with the Presidents while also positively reinforcing team culture with special and innovative projects. My fun fact was that I was on TV while I was meeting Canadian TV show stars at the Eaton Centre. Fun fact, my go-to social activity is definitely karaoke and vibing!

I’ve been on the TRACE team since my second year, and looking back on my time and experience, I’ve been able to grow as a person and student leader. I’ve always been the shy type before joining the team, but I was able to develop the confidence I needed to grow out of my shell and I was able to gain new opportunities because of this. This is why I’ve been passionate about student growth and leadership and as an executive on TRACE, this is what I want to help other students in doing. What truly excited me about this year on TRACE is seeing all of the delegates and training them to grow as business leaders as well as having fun while competing at ACE Nationals. Seeing the growth and development of students shows me that we are able to make a significant impact on our community and makes me proud to be part of this team.

Hi, my name is Arun Chung and I’m the Co-VP of Delegate Development at TRACE! I’m currently in my 4th year of the Business Technology Management program. In my role, I help train students to prepare for case competitions by teaching the fundamentals of case cutting and supporting them in developing stronger presentation and analytical thinking skills. You’ll often find me leading our delegate development sessions, where we provide hands-on training to help delegates gain confidence and succeed.

Previously, I served as the Director of Delegate Development. Being part of the team last year was incredibly rewarding, as I got to watch students grow and succeed throughout the year. My own journey with TRACE began two years ago as a delegate, and moving up to Co-VP of Delegate Development has been a phenomenal experience—it’s allowed me to grow personally while now helping others do the same.

And for a fun fact: I once brought a vacuum sealer to camp for my things and accidentally woke up the whole cabin at 6:00 a.m.

Hi, my name is Hijab Raza! I am entering my third year at TMU as a Law and Business student, and I am excited to serve as Co-VP of Events for TRACE in the 2025/2026 year.

Looking back, attending my first TRACE conference set the foundation for the role I am honored to hold today. This year, I’m eager to meet new faces and witness their own stories unfolding beautifully through experiences brought by the events team! If I could give one piece of advice to all our attendees, it would be to make this experience yours. Be true to yourself, be open to what comes your way, and let TRACE help you flourish in ways you didn’t see coming.

In my free time, I enjoy writing, café debriefs with a book or friends, and exploring the delicate corners of my favorite Pinterest feeds.

Hi! My name is Sahar Ghafoori, I am a third-year BTM student and one of your Co-VPs of Events for TRACE this year! Events are at the core of our group, bringing all departments together to create memorable experiences for both delegates and the team. Through these events, I work to foster a positive and uplifting environment within the TRACE community, and much more!

My experiences in the student group community allow me to connect with our audience while bringing innovation, insight, and passion into every event I take on. Even though I wasn’t previously part of the team, taking that leap introduced me to an inspiring and supportive community that I’m grateful to be a part of. A perfect chance to meet delegates, make new memories, and bring the best energy yet. In my spare time, I love to read a good book, or bake some pastries!
