The Delegate Experience

Delegate Development
TRACE’s Delegate Development (DD) sessions are designed to transform motivated students into confident, competition-ready professionals. These interactive workshops go beyond theory — they provide hands-on training that mirrors the real case competition experience.

Each session focuses on key skills such as strategic problem-solving, structured case analysis, storytelling through presentations, and persuasive communication. You’ll also learn how to think critically under time pressure, collaborate effectively in teams, and deliver solutions that are both creative and realistic.

In addition to mastering case mechanics, DD sessions dive deep into industry-specific knowledge across ACE categories like Marketing, Finance, Sports, Fashion, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability. You’ll gain insider perspectives on market trends, real business challenges, and frameworks used by top consulting firm's

Delegates also benefit from personalized feedback and mentorship — receiving direct guidance from TRACE alumni, executive members, and guest speakers from industry and academia. These experts help refine your analytical thinking, professional speaking style, and overall stage presence.

By the time Nationals arrive, you’ll have completed multiple practice rounds, improved your public speaking confidence, and built the composure needed to perform under pressure. You’ll also develop a network of peers and mentors who share your drive for excellence and growth.

Attendance at DD sessions is mandatory and runs throughout the months leading up to Nationals — ensuring every delegate has ample opportunity to grow, ask questions, and reach their full potential.
Conferences
Internal and external conferences give you experience competing in lower stakes environments, with the same structure and rules as ACE Canada Nationals. TRACE's annual conference, typically in November, is a memorable weekend of workshops, networking, and case cutting.

Delegates are invited to external conferences at other schools, such as University of Toronto and University of Guelph-Humber, to gain further experience case cutting against diverse student bodies.

Nationals
ACE Canada Nationals is your opportunity to stand out and showcase your case-cutting skills against schools from across Canada. Held each January at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto, you'll also experience professional development workshops, an awards ceremony, and opportunities to further connect with your peers.
ACE Canada Nationals is a unique event that represents the pinnacle of the TRACE experience, as the culmination of your hard work and practice throughout the year.
Events
TRACE also loves to have fun! We host events throughout the year for delegates to get to know each other and other TMU students. Past events have included our Welcome Session, Mafia and Mingle, and the much-awaited Awards Ceremony!

While we love cutting cases, TRACE is also about building community and ensuring our delegates have the optimal balance of academic, extracurricular, and social experiences!

"Before joining I felt like a shell of a person, I knew I had impactful ideas but often swallowed them out of insecurity. ACE truly helped me find my voice and confidence, to be able to shed out all your biggest ideas is empowering. It has truly been an affirmation to what I can achieve post graduation and beyond. I met some of my closest friends and connections from all across Canada!"
Arun Chung
"I’ve been competing in case competitions since high school, reaching the provincial level. This is my second year as a delegate for TRACE. Last year, I placed 1st in the Marketing category at the Aspire Conference and also competed at ACNationals in the Sports & Entertainment category. Through these experiences, I’ve gained valuable skills in presenting."

"Joining TRACE was one of the most impactful experiences in my undergraduate years. What I didn't realize was that is that these skills translated into my professional career. I was able to walk into job interviews with confidence and come up with creative answers on the spot. In the end, my experience in case competitions is what set me apart from other applicants."
Chris Liu

Shobiya Sivanathan
"Choosing to compete in ACE was sincerely one of the best decisions I've made in my post-secondary career. Being able to compare my experiences at nationals from first year to now my fourth, I can look back, and see how much confidence I've gained, and how different of a person I am today."
Aswine Krish
"I was always a shy kid and I struggled to put myself out there. Through the delegate development (DD) sessions, I learned how to cut a case and had plenty of opportunities to put my acquired knowledge to practice. The DD sessions really helped me hone in on my presentation and quick thinking skills which ultimately boosted my confidence. I am forever grateful for the skills, memories, and connections I made through TRACE."
